Think Outside the Box(es)
When it came to decorating our home office, I felt pretty lost. I knew I didn’t want a traditional large brown desk that looks like it belongs in some lawyers office. I wanted clean and chic. It started with putting in a smaller white desk for our computer, but I didn’t know what else to do the room. It just felt too empty.
We thought hmm what about chairs, but after buying two tufted chairs, it just didn’t fit so we returned them to HomeGoods. Then, it came to me out of nowhere. I wanted an open bookshelf to decorate just to fill and complete the room!
So I turned to the store that wouldn’t let me down – Ikea! I found this perfect unit that I knew would do the job! For only $64.99, I couldn’t pass up this steal!
What I love about this piece is you can use it vertically or horizontally! I knew I would have so much fun playing with different pieces to design our office space even more.
We were guilty of using our office as just a place to store boxes we were too lazy to go through for the first 4 months after we moved into our house. It’s so amazing how you can redesign a space with just some ideas and effort!
We purchased two separate door pieces to use the two center bottom squares for additional storage. The doors transform the shelf unit and make it look much more complete.
I bought the pieces below from Z Gallerie. The prices can be a little crazy here but I really loved everything, so, we splurged. But we did get 30% off of these items during a promotion! Z Gallerie can be pricey when you’re looking to fill a room with accent decor, so I recommend checking out HomeGoods. You can find similar items at a fraction of the price.
As y’all know, I absolutely adore anything that is kate spade. Andy (being the best hubs in the world) gave me the all in good taste book for Christmas a couple years ago. It’s the cutest book that highlights how to be the best hostess, how-to’s, recipes, and table etiquette. Seriously, it’s adorbs- go get it!
There is another great book that kate spade sells. It’s called Places to Go, People to See and it is a travelers dream – full of beautiful places that have the kate spade inspired lifestyle. It is a coffee table book but I decided it should be kept tucked neatly away until I book my next plane ticket!
Lastly, is our wedding guest book that is filled with warm, fuzzy memories! This little guest book has the cutest little notes to the bride and groom that has the tiniest little envelopes to stuff them in!
Some of the other items I used were a framed beach photo, a glass R for our last name from Pier 1, a kate spade rose bowl (no longer on their site but I found it here).
I hope y’all love the finished look of our home office as much as we do.
