Pumpkin Spice Never Tasted So Good
October is finally here! (Insert confetti toss)
This weekend, I went into full Halloween mode by putting up all of our Halloween decorations in the foyer, hanging our “Trick or Treat” wreath on the front door, and dressed up our front porch with pumpkins!
I also got my first pumpkin spice mocha of the season (so much better than a PSL…yes, you need to try it if you haven’t already).
Since I was already in “pumpkin mode,” I decided to whip up my favorite seasonal pumpkin spice buttercream frosting. Not only is this quick and easy to make, but it is so much better than anything you can buy at the store! If you have a sweet tooth like me, you’ll love this recipe!
I made homemade sugar cookies (a tasty recipe that will come later in the year) this weekend and frosted them with my pumpkin spice buttercream frosting to kick off October and let me tell you…it is fall flavored heaven. I could probably just eat the frosting on its own – it’s that good.
Pumpkin Spice Buttercream Frosting
1 stick of unsalted butter
4 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
6 tablespoons milk
- Let the butter sit out until softened, then place in mixer and mix on high.
- Add powdered sugar to butter and mix until combined.
- Add one teaspoon pumpkin pie spice and one teaspoon of ground cinnamon, mix until blended together. It will look crumbly like cookie dough at this point, but I promise you it will turn into frosting!
- Add 6 tablespoons of milk. This will make the crumbly dough into a smooth, silky frosting! YUM!
Bubbly Wife Tip: If your frosting is still too thick, add another tablespoon of milk. If it is too thin for your liking, slowly add more powdered sugar!
This frosting works great on sugar cookies, as well as cake or cupcakes! I decided to make cookies since I bought these teeny tiny Halloween cookie cutters at Target. These cookie cutters are so adorable and they work great! Plus, I got to use my brand new haunted house cookie jar from HomeGoods! Win!
Hope y’all enjoy this seasonal treat! What are some of your favorite pumpkin flavored things??
